EckhartLiterary Society
2005 Seminar Schedule
This year sees the inaugural series of M. G. Eckhart Memorial Lectures, generously funded by the Eckhart Literary Society. We are fortunate to have assembled such esteemed speakers for the first six months of this program. We offer them all our deepest thanks for giving of their time, and encourage all those interested in any facet of M. G. Eckhart’s life and works to attend.
January
M. G. Eckhart: A Psychological Profile / Dr. Laura Varady
Dr. Laura Varady was the obvious choice to begin this series of lectures. An esteemed psychiatrist, who has published widely, she was also M. G. Eckhart’s personal physician. Although issues of privacy obviously prevent us from venturing into some areas, Dr. Varady is characteristically enthusiastic about her subject, and eager to share her insights into the great man.
February
Why I Hate Eckhart (And You Should Too) / Adam Kane, Ph. D.
Scientist? Terrorist? Superhero? Adam Kane has always been a controversial figure. From his days working alongside M. G. Eckhart at Genomex, to his infamous time as a wanted criminal leading Mutant X, Kane has also been one of the closest people to M. G. Eckhart. He participates in this lecture series due to the help of the US Board of Corrections. We advise that small children, however enthusiastic they may be, are kept away from this lecture.
March
Eckhart’s Advances In Genetic Security / Frank Thorne
In addition to his famous writings and artifacts, many of which are studied here at the Eckhart Literary Society, M. G. Eckhart also pioneered a number of practical security measures in his lifetime. In this lecture, his associate Frank Thorne explores the genius behind the security strategies, and offers us a peek at M. G. Eckhart’s mind.
April
Who Is Eckhart? (No, Really) / Brennan Mulwray
What can be said about Brennan Mulwray? That he is adored by millions? That his depth of knowledge exceeds even that of Eckhart himself? No. These things cannot be said. Mr. Mulwray is giving his time to the Eckhart Literary Society as a part of his community service obligation, after having served a lengthy sentence in a correctional facility. We strongly advise that no one attend this lecture.
May
My Double Life / Dr. Kenneth Harrison
For several years, Dr. Kenneth Harrison worked alongside M. G. Eckhart, walking with him along the hallowed corridors of the Genomex facility; meeting with him in his office; pleading for his life. And for several years, no one could figure out what Dr. Kenneth Harrison actually did. Was he, as his experience suggested, a botanist, skilled at working with rare orchids? Or was he, as he claimed, a medical doctor? For the first time, Dr. Harrison will explain what his qualifications really are, and perhaps mention Eckhart once or twice along the way.
June
Orange Peel Frosting: The Real Story / Finn McAteer
We are delighted to have in our presence this esteemed guest from Scotland. Mr. McAteer was for several years the personal chef of M. G. Eckhart, and it is through his experience that every year the Society is able to recreate Eckhart’s annual birthday celebrations. Particularly dear to all our hearts is the treasured recipe for Eckhart’s favourite orange peel frosting. In this lecture, Mr. McAteer will reveal the secrets of his kitchen. Perhaps, in celebration, some of the more enthusiastic staff will even don our sacred party hats and pass out the patented Eckhart Punch.
Lectures will be held in the number one conference room in the Eckhart By-The-Waters building. They will start at 1 pm sharp. Latecomers will not be admitted. Persons found to be chewing gum, or whose cellphones or pagers emit any kind of sound, will be ejected from the premises.
Please ask about our discount student and 2-for-1 offers. For information on the Lifetime Membership, please contact the Head Curator.
